Grant Thornton South Africa announced today that a group of partners and staff in the Cape Town office will leave the firm to pursue alternative business opportunities, effective 31 July 2012.
The decision was reached when differences between two groups of partners could not be overcome.
“We wish the departing partners and staff well in their future ventures,” says Ian Scott, managing partner Grant Thornton Cape.
In June 2010, Ian Scott and Neil Miller were appointed joint managing partners when BDO was merged into the Grant Thornton firm in the Cape (Cape Town and Port Elizabeth).
Grant Thornton in South Africa – with the support Grant Thornton International – has endorsed the decisions made and continues to be fully committed to the remaining Grant Thornton partners in Cape Town.
Ian Scott will maintain his role as managing partner of Grant Thornton Cape. The bulk of the Cape firm remains fully intact to provide all service line capabilities to clients across the region.
